First I'd simply like to say, I'm sorry for not posting since the dawn of time.
This blog was originally put up simply as a proof of concept for a customer's project, however since I placed it at gregstout.com many of you expected that I would, what's the phrase I'm looking for, use it. After receiving dozens of delightful snipping email I have decided to shock you all by indeed doing that thing which you never thought I would do. Write in my blog.
Oh to be sure this will be dry tech nuggets mixed with, "Hey that's cool." observations but none the less you will all never be again able to chide me for not sharing.
My first brief yet oh so juicy post will simply note the well known fact that Facebook continue to frustrate the crap out all developers by leaving posted outdated documentation and beta code samples mixed in with the actual info required to complete any task. Having said that, I wanted to share something I noticed that was not called out in their doc but was shown in a nice code sample for open graph. They have neatly altered the name space chunk for insertion in the HTML tag.
The original
xmlns:og="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/"
is now
xmlns:og="http://ogp.me/ns#"
Making your full tag
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"xmlns:og="http://ogp.me/ns#"
xmlns:fb="https://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml">
While I'm sure the old tag is still supported, wink, It's time to migrate.
I will give them kudos for the docs on this though because if you go to "http://ogp.me/ns#" there is some nice documentation of OG.
There you go.
I know, you can't believe after all this time that is all I'm going to write. Well it is, but I've got alot of great Juju cooking up at Globalpost.com and I'll share those nuggets at they come up. Consider this a first step on a long road.
Also, one last thing. I enjoy spelling the word "the" like "teh". About four years ago I was involved in a writing project with a good friend and something happen with my muscle memory in my hands. I misspelled the word the many times in a row and then it just stuck. Some have told me it adds a dash of charm and personality to my communications. Others have enjoyed pointing out teh flaw as if it makes then superior. To those I say, good day to you. I will spell as I please and If you choose to be annoyed by it then you may go elsewhere or suck it up. This blog is mine and I shall wield it as I see fit.
I have much more to say but time is short and the to-do list is long so, for now, good bye.
